Quiet hours, the daily limit and the queue
See what is waiting to go out, stop messages arriving overnight, and cap how many emails a student gets in a day.
Every message Roll Pay sends for you, whether a notification you wrote, a sequence email or an automatic receipt, passes through one queue. The Queue tab shows what is in it, and holds two rules that protect your students' inboxes: quiet hours and a daily limit.
Steps
Read the queue
Click Notifications in the left menu, then Queue. The header counts everything waiting, what goes out in the next 24 hours, anything held because it is waiting on something, and anything that failed. Click a tile to filter the list below to just those messages.
Red tiles are the ones worth a look: held and failed messages. Set quiet hours
Quiet hours stops messages sending overnight. Set the start and end times and switch it on. Anything due during that window moves to the morning. Receipts, failed payment notices and password resets ignore quiet hours, because people expect those straight away.
Times are in your academy's own time zone. Change the time zone itself in Settings. Set the daily limit
Daily limit caps how many emails one student can get from you in a day. Anything over the limit waits for the next day rather than being dropped, so a sequence email and a notification landing on the same day are spread out.
Receipts, failed payment notices and password resets do not count towards the limit. Deal with a failed message
Further down, each queued message shows who it is for, what it is and when it is due. A Failed message says why, for example a mailbox that does not exist. Fix the student's details on their profile, then use the send icon to try again or the cross to remove it.
Superseded means a newer message replaced this one, for example when a sequence email was edited.
What happens next
Quiet hours and the daily limit apply to everything from now on. The Queue header tells you how many messages were moved by each rule tonight, so you can see them working.
Common questions
Does the daily limit apply to text messages? It counts emails. Texts are counted separately on the Notifications page.
A student says a message arrived at 6am. Receipts and payment failures ignore quiet hours. Anything else arriving early means quiet hours is off or ends before 6am.
Can I clear the whole queue? Remove messages one at a time with the cross. Pausing a sequence from the Sequences tab removes its pending emails.
